An Appreciative Leadership Integrated Service-Learning Praxis Framework for Positive Organisations or Institutions

ABSTRACT

The article proposes an Appreciative Leadership integrated service-learning praxis framework for positively-orientated organizations or institutions. When applied in a context of community – higher education partnerships, immersion in service-learning – Appreciative Inquiry and appreciative leadership can offer scholar-practitioners infinite engagement in experiential, reciprocal, reflective, grounded and positive learning to build more positive emotions and meaningful action to flourish positive organizations or institutions.

Karen Venter, head of the service-learning division within the Directorate of Community Engagement at the University of the Free State, is responsible for the institutionalisation and advancement of service-learning. Karen is currently studying towards a doctoral degree at the same institution. Her research focus lies on exploring service-learning as an inclusive and holistic strategy for the advancement of engaged scholarship.
