The Initiative Ended; The Orientation Endured

ABSTRACT

In 2004, as partners in the SuMo Experience,the authors were asked to help Canada’s largest school board launch an initiative designed to engage student voices in shaping the future of education, and specifically to improve outcomes for students. Two decades later, former students are still drawing on those early experiences: reframing conflict, stepping into leadership, carrying what one later described as ‘the momentum of positivity’ into adult life.
