Doughnut Economics, Appreciative Inquiry and Design Thinking: Designing a Desired Future

ABSTRACT

Bjørn Hauger, a social scientist, has been working with Appreciative Inquiry in Norway for over twenty years. His interest in using Appreciative Inquiry as a tool to address the most pressing global crises of our time led him to Doughnut Economics, which emphasizes transforming profit-driven companies into purpose-driven organizations. This in turn led to the first Doughnut Festival in 2022 and, in November 2024, a Regenerative AI Summit to initiate sustainability efforts inspired by Doughnut Economics within the Norwegian municipality of Tønsberg.
