Future Focus

ABSTRACT

Sometimes I sit with the newspaper cradled in my lap

and cry

Sometimes I listen to the evening news

and swear at the TV

Other days I pull out my well worn

rose-colored glasses

and choose to see the positive opposite of

gloom and doom

I focus on the best of our past and use these

Dark days

As stepping stones towards the future we most

Desire

Climate change could serve as a path toward new ways

that shine and grow in an evolved planet

Immigrants pounding at the door can bring new blood

and hope for a more unified future

AI could educate everyone in an instant, leveling

the playing field and elevating understanding

When the tears come and the anger erupts

shine the light on what you really yearn for

and you will surely discover

What you focus on grows.
