Using Appreciative Inquiry for Assessment and Development

ABSTRACT

This study assessed the impact of the Leadership Training program using Appreciative Inquiry to continue the positive impact in a car dealership on the east coast of the United States. Seven participants interviewed described the strengths and opportunities of the program as transformational leadership through mindfulness and communication. The study may contribute to the use of AI in other program assessments.

Leanna Hartsough is a Ph.D. candidate and instructor in communication at the University of Kentucky. Her research focuses on asset-based training and development, organizational communication and mindful communication in the workplace. Her dissertation uses qualitative methods to investigate how organizational members communicate individual and collective mindfulness and make sense of changes due to Covid.
