Patterns of Sense-Making and Learning

ABSTRACT

The essence of strength-based methods is to find, focus and build on successes, strengths and positive experiences. As such, strengths-based methods do not bring in new elements, but rather shift focus to what is already there. If the attention is too focussed on the method or model itself, it overshadows the working reality in which it is to be practised. Success comes from connecting to the client’s positive experiences and perspectives, with only piecemeal focus on applications or certain methods.
