ABSTRACT

The language we use to speak about peace is never neutral. At a time when public discourse is increasingly shaped by militarised narratives, this article asks: whose words define peace and whose are silenced? Through encounters from Yemen and Germany, and thinking with Spivak, bell hooks, and prefigurative politics, it asks what it means to speak peace into being as an act of resistance.
