ABSTRACT

We say ‘better’ many times a day and rarely pause to hear it. But say the word better and a comparison is already in the conversation, named or not. We can be better than whom, set against other people. Better than what, set against a standard or a target we think we should reach. Or better than when, set against ourselves at another time. Much of what people bring to coaching is often informed by the first two comparisons, but most of what transforms is shaped by the third.
